2:41p Hypothetical Constitutional Amendment
We the people of the United States hereby define interstate commerce as only the buying and selling of products, materials, or services across state lines by legally recognized and registered businesses and corporations.
Gee, when you really stop and think about it, this is all it would take to really force the Federal Government back to constitutionality. That is of course unless anybody can see any flaws that might be exploited. I wonder just HOW difficult it would be to force this sort of thing through though. I think you could get popular support for something so short and straight forward, but getting politicians to go along with it is a whole other ballgame.

10:34a Sen. Nelson's Vote
Let's see. Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) tried to get an anti-abortion amendment into the Senate health care bill and failed. Then just two days ago, he said a proposed compromise amendment wasn't good enough. Now it says here that they came up with some unknown anti-abortion language... but also unspecified "favors for his home state". Other info says the favors were probably extra cash for his state's Medicare program. How much do you think he got -- $300,000,000 like the Senator from Louisiana?
So basically, what put Nelson over the top on this bill -- which he feared, based on his beliefs, forced citizens to subsidize the mass murder of babies -- was some nice, juicy pork for his state. Are you sure that's not baby meat, Senator?

9:15p There's no TIME like the present
TIME Magazine officially sucks.
The TIME Person of the Year for 2009 is...Ben Bernanke. Ben fucking Bernanke.
I missed it because I usually don't give a whit who is or isn't TIME's Person of the Year, considering my continual process of "waking up" and realizing these rags for what they are...but seriously?
But Bernanke also knows the economy would be much, much worse if the Fed had not taken such extreme measures to stop the panic. There's a vast difference between 10% and 25% unemployment, between anemic and negative growth. He wishes Americans understood that he helped save the irresponsible giants of Wall Street only to protect ordinary folks on Main Street. He knows better than anyone how financial crises spiral into global disasters, how the grass gets crushed when elephants fall. "We came very, very close to a depression ... The markets were in anaphylactic shock," he told TIME during one of three extended interviews. "I'm not happy with where we are, but it's a lot better than where we could be."
Yeah right. As if anything else needs to be said, I turn only to the first page of Mish's Global Economic Analysis, which reads: "Seven Banks Fail, 140 YTD total, Sheila Bair 'prepared to handle an ever-larger number of bank failures next year'".
Uh-huh.
I have no idea what to say, other than the obvious: the editors of TIME are twats.

2:14a The War on Christmas
What do you guys think of this supposed war?
I think it is a lot of hot air, and terrible atheist squads aren't bent upon ruining Christmas for everyone.
However, lots of idiots are doing some weird stuff.
So, what does the community think of this war?
Also, Merry Spendmas to everyone, happy shopping Saturday.

11:09p A problem with government...
Couple’s tax transfer runs afoul of assessor
But the county assessor’s office denied their request because its appraisers believe the Seylers sold their house for more than it was really worth. The county believes the couple owe more than $5,500 in property taxes rather than the $2,000 they had planned on.
The definition of the value of something is the price that is actually paid for it. The arrogance of government thinking that it can set a value in some manner other than that. This is a fundamental problem with giving the government so much power just because we want to get "free" stuff from other people.

7:44p COP15 --> FLOP15?
From NOPENHAGEN to HOPENHAGEN
Although Obama is his usual enthusiastic self, word is beginning to spread that the 192 nations represented at the Copenhagen Climate Conference, won't reach an agreement. On the last night of the conference, nobody has a clue what's going on. My sister works at the conference, and she says that everyone is just walking around, confused. The rumor mill is running wild, with talks of extending the talks.
Let's hope for the best
UPDATE: It seems that the UN has accepted a statement known as the Copenhagen Accord, which would function as a stepping stone for a binding agreement at a later time. Now it's just up to the individual countries to adopt or reject it.

2:09p The hypocrisy of doomsayers
50 days to save the world? I might listen to the doomsayers if they weren't such ludicrous hypocrites By Stephen Glover Last updated at 11:40 PM on 16th December 2009
Not many people understand climate change. But they can recognise hypocrisy when they see it, and are also likely to count their spoons whenever wild-eyed politicians invoke the impending end of the world. On Tuesday, Prince Charles flew to Copenhagen to attend the climate change summit, where he delivered a keynote speech.
He informed his audience that 'the world has only seven years before we lose the levers of control'. Not at all long, then.
For the Prince this was an important speech with an important message.
If we have so little time, and man-made climate change is such a terrifyingly imminent threat, he might have taken a boat or train to Copenhagen, or even, as a symbolic gesture, decided to walk.
But he commandeered a jet belonging to the Queen's Flight, generating an estimated 6.4tons of carbon dioxide, 5.2tons more than if he had used a commercial flight.
Meanwhile his fellow prophet of doom, Gordon Brown, was making his own way to Copenhagen the same day.
This is the man who proclaimed in October that we had '50 days to save the world'. Before leaving he conjured up on a television programme the certainty of 'floods and droughts' with 'climate change evacuees and refugees' if agreement is not reached in Copenhagen.
Mr Brown chartered a 185-seat Airbus to take him and 20 aides to Denmark. Was a smaller plane producing less carbon dioxide not available?
Could he perhaps have shared an aircraft with Prince Charles? Might he have considered taking a scheduled flight to the Danish capital, of which there were 16 on Tuesday?
Evidently not. It is odd, isn't it, how climate change doomsayers such as Prince Charles and Mr Brown are so often unprepared to make the smallest sacrifice in their own daily lives to address a threat which they assert is literally deadly.

10:30p Happy Fox!
I've got:
- clean and dry blankets - a new bed - some munchies - green - a couple drinks - a new bottle of gas for heat - a good charge on the lil' fennec
It's about time I got a little bit of relief! Tuesday I woke up in a huge puddle of water that was caused by a hole I didn't know about and I had a stream flowing under me. Wednesday was the same. I thought I had plugged the leak but I was wrong. I did wake up in a puddle again but it wasn't as deep as before. the leak is all epoxied shut now. Also, everything is drying out today so the floor isn't as damp as before.
Now that these fires are put out, I finally get a night of relief. Too bad I'll get back around midnight and won't fall asleep till 3-4am. This happens while I'm trying to readjust my sleep schedule so I can get up earlier and have more time during the day to get stuff done.
There's always next week.

11:05p Me tired puppy.....
Home finally....right from work to pick up the pizza I was treating the guys from FUSE with tonight. They loved the Xmas stockings Ian and I did for them. Got some nummy cookies from friends. Went to Home Depot after and got new arched shower rod (it's more than worth the $40), toilet seat and some little things I knew we would need for the move this weekend. Got home and packed several tubs with stuff. Not too bad only $110 tonight. So much for the Christmas bonus. At least I already have most of the gifts bought
Tomorrow after work it's high gear packing. Hope to have everything in containers and labeled where they go so all that has to be done Sat is move things upstairs. Dusty is not happy with me. She sees the containers and thinks that I'm going out of town. So the goal is to have the trees back up and redecorated no later than Monday. So much for my plan to bake cookies this weekend! I need to work out a layout of the new space. Also have to figure with the furniture that is coming up and the one futon that is staying down. Titus sleeps on that futon a lot of the time and with all the hell he is going to endure I wanted him to have someplace comfy he can lay
